PTO Closet Organization: See How We Transformed This Elementary School Storage Space

Behind every school event, fundraiser, and celebration is a team of dedicated PTO volunteers working hard to make the year unforgettable for students, staff, and families. But even the best intentions can get buried—literally—when a storage space gets out of control.

We recently had the privilege of helping organize a PTO closet tucked behind an elementary school gymnasium. Over the years, the space had become a bit of a black hole: supplies were hard to find, items were accidentally re-purchased, and valuable resources were being spent on things they already owned—just couldn’t locate.


So we stepped in.


The volunteers started strong, clearing out the entire closet and making thoughtful decisions about what to keep. After all that effort (and a few tired arms), our team arrived to take it across the finish line.


We sorted every bin, box, and supply, then created clearly labeled zones by event, season, and category. Now there’s a home for everything—and everything’s in its home.


The result? More space. Better access. No more duplicates. And a lot more clarity.

Now this PTO can confidently restock only what’s truly needed, saving time, energy, and money for the things that really matter—like enriching the school year for every student.
